Having the privilege of growing up in the mountains of California, amongst beautiful redwood, cedar and Douglas fir trees, I developed a true love and devotion for these natural resources.

Building furniture and constructing wood projects were always favorite pastimes of mine. Years ago I had the opportunity to build my own backyard deck, but (because of the area of the country I lived in) those classy types of wood remembered from my California days were hard to find and very expensive. I was forced to build my deck from pressure treated southern yellow pine. For the most part this was a good building material but it lacked the majesty and grace I really wanted.

Once the deck was built, I wanted to treat my deck with a material that would give the wood the beauty and protection I thought it should have. This mission turned out to completely change my life.

At that time, very few people knew anything about cleaning and sealing wood properly. Relying on the local hardware store for advice, I ended up using sealers that looked unnatural or just didn't work. The true color of the wood and the protection I wanted just wasn't there. I became obsessed with finding the right product - something that not only reminded me of my childhood memories but also offered the protection from the weather wood needs. I realized that, if I was having this much trouble with my deck, then everyone else probably was, too.

I looked far and wide, and no one out there knew the right answers. There was a lot of conflicting information, and a lot of manufacturers were misleading customers about how their products performed. Further, no one in my area was offering this service as a specialty. I decided then and there that this would be a great way to make a living and be the Knight In Shining Armor that homeowners needed! That was the birth of Sun Brite!

A few years down the road I met my partner Pete and discovered that he and I shared a passion for beautiful wood. Pete's experience in business, finance, and franchising as well as his commitment to customer service were just what Sun Brite needed to really grow and prosper. It wasn't long before Sun Brite was inundated with calls from homeowners everywhere wanting our services and our sealer of choice.

Today in the metro Atlanta area Sun Brite cleans and seals about 1200 decks and fences a year.
